fashion industry is the belief that wearing your watch on your left hand is correct.

We grew up believing certain truths were unavoidable and accepted them as social norms. Some social acceptance rules, such as speech eloquence, impeccable habits, and proper dress etiquette, compelled us to conform.

We came to believe that these rules were set in stone by societal expectations, and that we had no choice but to accept them as final and enduring. Anyone who stood up to them was considered a rebel.

Today, more and more of these norms are being called into question, and some have been proven to be untrustworthy.

A classic example in the fashion industry is the belief that wearing your watch on your left hand is correct.

So, which side are you on?
Most of us have never stopped to question this belief because we have grown up seeing and believing it to be acceptable dressing etiquette.

The functional approach to wearing a wristwatch is to wear it comfortably so that it does not interfere with or distract you from your daily activities. Wearing the watch on the non-dominant hand enabled this while also protecting the watch from scratches and/or damage.

Because most people are right-handed, their non-dominant hand is their left hand.

With more people wearing their watches on their left hand, the incorrect belief that wristwatches are only to be worn on the left hand has spread over time.
